Frequently Asked Questions
- What are the costs? Rosewood Health and Rehab Center rates are $175 daily for a semi-private room, and $190 daily for a semi-private room on the secure unit. Private rooms are an extra $15 per day. White Oak apartment rentals vary depending on the floor plan and size of apartment, and range from $1070 to $2045 per month for upper level senior living, and $2140 to $3175 for main level licensed residential care. Forest View Senior Residences apartments range from $655 to $1800 per month, depending on the floor plan and size of the apartment. You may view the complete pricing information by completing a request for information form.
- Are there any assistance programs? For those whose resources are limited and meet state guidelines Medicaid can provide financial assistance for any bed in Rosewood Health and Rehab Center. For Veterans who served during wartime, and their spouses, the Veterans Administration offers a special pension called Aid and Attendance, which provides financial assistance to those who qualify.
- Is a down payment required prior to admission? Yes. Forest View Senior Residences and White Oak Living Center require a $500 security deposit. Rosewood Health and Rehab Center requires that a person pay a "pro-rated" rent for the remaining days in the month of admission.
- Will Mom have a roommate? Most rooms in Rosewood Health and Rehab Center are semi-private rooms where one would have a roommate. An assessment prior to admission helps us to determine compatibility, which would be a factor in acceptance for admission--we would not want to place someone in a situation where they would live with a roommate who would be incompatible. Private rooms are available in Rosewood for an extra fee. Forest View Senior Residences and White Oak Living Center feature private apartments.
- What items of furniture do I need to bring? You're more than welcome to bring your own furniture and decorations in Forest View Senior Residences and White Oak Living Center--all apartments are unfurnished. Rosewood Health and Rehab Center provides a bed, nightstand, dresser, and wardrobe--but you're free (and encouraged!) to bring any other items to make your room your home.
- How much furniture can I bring? As much as can be safely accommodated! You may view floor plans on the Rosewood Health and Rehab Center, White Oak Living Center, and Forest View Senior Residences pages.
- Is laundry included? Laundry services are included at no extra charge in Rosewood Health and Rehab Center and White Oak Living Center. Coin laundry facilities (where the charge is minimal) are available in each building of Forest View Senior Residences.
- Do I have to pay for incontinence products? A standard incontinence product is provided in Rosewood Health and Rehab Center at no extra charge. However, if someone prefers a specialized product, they are welcome to provide it at their own expense.
- Do I have to pay for wheelchair rental? Not at all! Wheelchairs are provided free of charge for your own use in Rosewood Health and Rehab Center. You can also bring your electric scooter or wheelchair for Rosewood, White Oak Living Center, and Forest View Senior Residences, as long as it can be operated in a safe manner.
- Who provides meds? You are welcome to bring your own medications and supply them at Forest View Senior Residences and the upper level of White Oak Living Center. Because Rosewood Health and Rehab Center and the main level residential care area of White Oak Living Center are licensed by the state, we will order your medication from a pharmacy of your choice that provides "bubble-packing." ("Bubble-packing" is a system used to provide strict accountability and verification of medication administration--a principle that is required by state and federal regulation.)
- We have a mail-order plan that gives us a 90-day supply of meds; will that work? There won't be any problem in Forest View Senior Residences or the upper level of White Oak Living Center. However, since storage areas in Rosewood Health and Rehab Center and the main level of White Oak Living Center are limited, we are only able to maintain a 30-day supply of medications. Further, most mail-order plans cannot meet the "bubble-packing" requirement. (Because Rosewood and the main level residential care area of White Oak Living Center are licensed by the state, we will order your medication from a pharmacy of your choice that provides "bubble-packing"--a system used to provide strict accountability and verification of medication administration, which is a principle required by state and federal regulation.)
- What do we do about doctor visits? Can we keep our current doctor? Forest View Senior Residences and White Oak Living Center residents may retain their relationship with their present physician. We also have an "on-site" medical director, to whom our residents may go--without ever leaving our campus. White Oak Living Center residents are required have an annual physical. While Rosewood Health and Rehab Center residents may retain their relationship with their present physician, state and federal regulations mandate routine visits--one visit a month for the first three months, and a visit every 60 days thereafter. Family members would be responsible for transportation to these appointments to ensure compliance with regulations. For those who wish the convenience of "on-site care," our medical director--who visits Rosewood several times during the course of the week--will be happy to assume a Rosewood resident's care.
- Do you have transportation for activities? How about to the doctor? Transportation by wheelchair-accessible vans is available for activities at no extra charge. Transportation is also provided by advance reservation to medical appointments. There is no transportation charge for any medical appointment within the city limits of Independence. However, charges based on mileage will apply for appointments outside the city limits of Independence. An additional charge will be made if a staff attendant is required; this charge applies for all trips both within and without the city limits of Independence. Volunteers can be requested to accompany residents to medical appointments if medically appropriate and if a volunteer is available.
- What services do you offer in the Beauty Shop? "Shay's Salon at The Groves," our "full service" beauty shop, provides everything from a basic shampoo and haircut to perms and colorings. Manicures and pedicures are also offered. Prices vary on the service provided, and are due at the time of service, unless other arrangements are made. Shay's Salon has two locations on campus: one in White Oak Living Center and one in Rosewood.
- What about a TV, phone, and Internet? All apartments on campus are wired for cable TV and private phones. Services are available for a charge, and rates are set by the provider. For cable TV, you'll want to contact Comcast directly to arrange for a specific cable package. For telephones in Forest View Senior Residences and White Oak Living Center, contact the provider of your choice to arrange for services. Phone service in Rosewood Health and Rehab Center is handled through our Business Office, as we own the lines in that building; contact the Business Office for details and service.
